SCOUTS & CUBS

The Cubs and Scouts are back and raring to go with our Autumn programme.

We have an exciting activity camp coming up with Scouts from all over North Yorkshire called Ignite. Activities include climbing, abseiling, canoeing, sailing and will be attended by over 500 Scouts.

We are also looking to test our map reading skills in completing an expedition and overnight camping trip at Snowball plantation.

The group numbers are increasing as we have welcomed some new members to the group and had some cubs who have progressed to Scouts. Welcome to all the new members.

Cub activities are as varied as ever with lots of visits planned including the local fire station and castle museum.

We are active in the community with a litter pick and have been spending time clearing and maintaining the Scout hut.

We have many plans for the future and will update out website with all future activities.

GIRLGUIDING

In Osbaldwick, Girlguiding is able to offer girls aged from 5 to 14 fun, adventure and space to discover their potential. Girlguiding empowers girls, gives them space to grow and ensures each one of them can get involved – no matter what their background or ability.

BROWNIES

At Brownies, we welcome all girls aged 7-10 years from Osbaldwick and the surrounding area. We aim to make Brownies inclusive, supportive and fun, and provide an environment where everyone feels safe and happy. We follow the Girlguiding programme, and run a variety of fun, creative, adventurous activities which allow Brownies to earn Girlguiding badges. We also include special activities, parties and events linked to seasonal, local, regional, national or global events or occasions.

Brownies meet during school term time on a Thursday, 6:15–7:30pm. Spaces available from September! If you’d like more information or to enquire about a place for your daughter, contact the leadership team on: 73and10yorkbrkbrownies@gmail.com

Guides

The Guide unit takes girls ages 10–14 from Osbaldwick and the surrounding area. At Guides we enjoy a wide range of both indoor and outdoor activities whilst working towards badges connected to the Girlguiding programme. The Guides will be working on Engineering and Artist badges this coming term, alongside completing their outdoor cooking badges.

In July we went away for a weekend camp. The Guides enjoyed a wide variety of activities that included grass sledging, dragon-themed challenges, tie-dying and backwoods cooking; and a water slide to cool down after the high temperatures over the weekend.

The Guides meet on Wednesdays. If you would like your daughter to join, or would like more information, please contact Debra/Heather: 10thyorkosbaldwickguides@gmail.com
